Jun 02, 2026"One of the two better Chippys in the area. Staff are great. Quick with serving... generous with portions of chips and rarely get the orders wrong... though it has happened on occasion. But that's during a lot of visits. Chips are tasty but could be crisper. Local spuds used too, which is nice. In fact, my understanding is that this chippy is owned by the same people that farm the potatoes. It's our regular go-to because all-in-all, it's not bad at all. The reasons it's a 4 star and not 5... Firstly, prices. Fish and Chips used to cost £10-15 for the family. Now the prices are on a par with the Indian and Chinese takeaway shops. Which, when you break it down... just isn't cricket. Especially when the fundamental Chips are produced just up the road. Secondly... freshness. Just be careful when you go. Busier us better. It's worth the wait. If you go before the rush you'll end up with one of the bits of fish that's been sat in the warmer too long. I know they try to get ahead of the rush... but on more than a few occasions now they've been TOO far ahead and the fish has been tougher and dry. All that said... generally, it's a solid option for Fish and Chips locally."
